Welcome To The Philadelphia Prevention Partnership

The Philadelphia Prevention Partnership is a coalition of Community partnerships sharing the common goal of Preventing substance abuse (alcohol, tobacco and other Drugs) in the long term through out the city. Prevention is built on relationships and information. The Partnership is building relationships between and among individuals, families, agencies, organizations and ethnicities; and providing training and information.

An important gap the Partnership structure addresses is reaching cultural groups who tend to work only within their systems. Through three initiatives, the Institute of African American Mobilization, the Latino Partnership Initiative, and the United Northeast Neighbors, the partnership supports community-based efforts. It develops an increasingly important role in city-wide substance abuse prevention efforts by the Latino, African American and working-class European-American communities.

All three of these groups are represented on the Partnership’s advisory board, insuring an active coalition around prevention issues that an integrated, multi-cultural, multi-pronged effort.
